The Morrison community welcomes business growth and development.  We offer development incentives for qualified business projects.  The City of Morrison and the Community Economic Development Office can assist projects from inception to completion.

Major employers within the community include Whiteside County government, Climco Coils, Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison Community School District #6, R C Smith Transportation, Super Wash, and Vend-Omack.  Because Morrison is the county seat, professional services such as attorneys, title and survey services, and financial and accounting services are well-represented. Downtown revitalization efforts by businesses and the City of Morrison have resulted in the retention and preservation of most of its original structures.

Morrison’s close proximity to the Quad Cities, Chicago, and Rockford stimulates interest in the community from both business and family perspectives. Its excellent transportation links and high quality of life ensure that Morrison continues to grow.  Many residents commute to neighboring communities to major employers in Clinton, IA - Custom-Pak, Inc.; Archer Daniels Midland; Bemis Clysar, Inc.; Lyondell/Equisar Chemicals; Collis Inc.; Nestle PURINA PetCare; IPSCO Tubulars Inc.; and Mercy Medical Center, Sterling, IL - Wahl-Clipper; Wal-Mart Distribution Center; CGH Medical Center; Sterling Rock Falls Clinic; National Manufacturing; and Self-Help Enterprises, Rock Falls, IL - Stanley/National, and Fulton, IL - Drives, Inc.

The Morrison Area Community Development Corporation will assist organizations in their pursuit of local development efforts and direct efforts including facilitating community cooperation and guiding initiatives such as housing and business development and retention.
